In response to extreme climate changes and the increasingly tense situation across the Taiwan Strait, and to enhance understanding of mobilization preparedness operations, the Hsinchu District Motor Vehicles Office held the "2024 Annual Vehicle Mobilization and Assignment Business Forum" on the 15th. The event invited approximately 60 participants from local governments of Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli, the Reserve Command, and relevant associations for freight and passenger transport in the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli region.
The forum aimed to foster good interaction among vehicle mobilization business members to facilitate quick mobilization during disasters and reduce public losses. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to promote the concept of "Pause at Intersections, Proceed Safely" among passenger and freight transport operators to reduce traffic accidents.
During the forum, the Hsinchu District Motor Vehicles Office explained to the participants from the passenger coach and freight industries the importance of drivers stopping at intersections to check for pedestrians and other vehicles before turning. This was to enhance drivers' safety awareness and demonstrate a commitment to protecting pedestrian safety. The office also reminded operators that if violations related to failure to yield to pedestrians occur, safety management inspections will be conducted at the company, and improvements will be supervised. Additionally, drivers involved in accidents or violations will be included in road safety education and training.
The forum also featured a promotional video produced by the Highway Bureau, which emphasized the importance of regular vehicle inspections, checks before departure and after returning, and training for freight operators. The video demonstrated the standard procedure for yielding at intersections and hoped to encourage operators to strengthen management practices to ensure pedestrian safety.
